Sara Heaton, LCSW
Sara Heaton has several years of experience in different settings including individual therapy, group therapy, inpatient, residential group homes, outpatient, and in home therapy. Sara works with a diverse population of individuals, including LGBTQIA+, individuals with developmental disabilities, brain injury both traumatic and acquired, adults, and older adults.
Sara has extended experience providing individual and group therapy to a variety of disorders and behaviors. That includes depression, anxiety, PTSD, neurodivergent, ADHD, brain injury, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, social skills, coping skills, empowerment and more. Sara is dedicated to providing an open, welcoming, empathetic and collaborative environment in which clients feel safe and comfortable expressing themselves without judgement. She enjoys working with individuals of all walks of life and using her skills as a therapist and yoga teacher to aid in growth and developing success with everyone she works with.
Sara’s therapeutic orientation is largely based on Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and credentialed to work with EMDR therapy. Sara also uses elements of other modalities including Motivational Interviewing, trauma informed care, Solution Focused therapies, and strengths-based approaches in her practice. Her treatment is focused on the individuals’ particular needs and tailoring the treatment to address the unique needs of the individuals that she serves.
Sara is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Massachusetts. She holds a Master of Social Worker degree from Salem State University School of Social work and an undergraduate Psychology degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
