Kaitlyn Kemppainen, LCSW
Kaitlyn is a Licensed Certified Social Worker whose main focus in the therapy room is to remain trauma informed, and client centered. Originally from Arizona, Kaitlyn moved to Boston after completing her Master’s degree in Social Work at Northern Arizona University. Throughout her years as a community based Social Worker, Kaitlyn has supported clients in acute crisis as a co-responder with local law enforcement, as well as practicing in community mental health. Kaitlyn has extensive experience working with adolescents, adults, and the aging population in a variety of clinical needs/settings. From on-scene crisis intervention, to facilitating group therapy at inpatient facilities, Kaitlyn takes her learned experiences to each client encounter.
Dedicated to providing a safe, welcoming, and empathetic environment, where clients feel they are working in collaboration with her, Kaitlyn hopes her clients feel comfortable to express themselves and show up just as they are. She enjoys incorporating mindfulness into her practice, and seeks to support a diverse amount of individuals coming from all stages of life.
Kaitlyn’s therapeutic intervention draws largely from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing, with as needed elements of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), applied behavior analysis (ABA), and art/play therapies. While focusing her treatment to each individual's needs, Kaitlyn places a huge emphasis on being trauma informed and strength-based in and out of the therapy room.
The clientele Kaitlyn has the most experience with are those suffering from PTSD, psychosis, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and autism spectrum disorder.
